I am Ceren Su Şahin. I was born and raised in Turkiye, where my passion for music began at an early age. I studied piano at Bilkent University and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, earning my first degree in Piano Performance. My journey also took me to Poland, where I studied at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music.
In 2015, I moved to the United States to continue my education. I earned a BA from Florida Gulf Coast University before coming to Ann Arbor to pursue my Master’s and Doctorate in Piano Performance at the University of Michigan, completing my DMA in 2023.
Since arriving in Ann Arbor, I’ve always been involved with AAAPT’s events and became a member after my graduation. I am currently serving as the Vice President.
While focusing on my music career, my family in Turkiye started a new venture. They planted olive trees and began producing our own olive oil. Feeling a strong connection to this, I decided to bring our olive oil to the US and started a business to import it.
Now, I teach at the University of Michigan’s PPLP program and run the olive oil business. It’s a fulfilling balance of my two passions—music and family—and I’m grateful for how these paths have come together.
